Osteomielitis
Osteomyelitis is an infection in the bone.
Rare but serious, osteomyelitis is often caused by bacteria in the bloodstream from infectious diseases that spread to the bone, an open wound from a trauma, or as a result of a recent surgical operation around a bone.
The part of the body impacted most by this condition is that of the vertebrae, but can also occur in long bones like the femur, the pelvis and clavicle (common in children).
The most common symptoms are pain in the areas affected, skin reactions (redness, ulcers), along with fever, chills and fatigue.
